Terraces of Banaue
Tucked away in the Ifugao province of the Phillippines, the rice terraces of Banaue and Batad remain somewhat of a hidden gem. Providing a whole other facet, completely different form the azure archipelagos that the country is known for these rice terraces have an unmatched gravity of their own. Comparatively so few tourists visits that the culture can really be appreciated. There is a serenity to visiting the region as most the activity consists of trekking amongst the rice terraces for 2 to 3 days, staying in homestays run by the locals. The terraces themselves are thousands of years old spanning the horizon terraformed apparently mostly by hand adding further to the impressiveness of the site.
