Glowing Tents on Kilimanjaro
This image holds a lot of personal significance and is quite close to me. I don't know what it is, but every so often I go back to this photo. It is still one of my favourite shots to date, despite it being almost accidental as all I could see through the viewfinder was the faint glow of the orange gents against the backdrop of the twinkling of the African night. I think it's more about what it represents, despite years elapsing, it was one of my first experiences of adventure and my second 4000m+ peak. In modern society we go through periods of extended relative comfort, with things being relatively easily available to us on demand. This type surreal beauty just isn't present in day to day life. I'm no professional mountaineer but every time I think of the glows of these tents at 5000m, I begin to hear the call of adventure to get away from comfort and do something more.
